Zhipu AI has launched AutoClaw, a desktop application designed to streamline the installation and use of the popular OpenClaw open-source agent. AutoClaw aims to eliminate the complex setup process that has historically deterred users, offering one-click installation and integration with Feishu, a widely used enterprise collaboration platform. The application also introduces the new Pony-Alpha-2 agent model and supports hot-swappable models, providing over 50 pre-built skills.

OpenClaw has recently gained significant traction, with reports of long queues for free installation services and local government initiatives in Shenzhen and Wuxi offering substantial financial support for its development and adoption. However, the original OpenClaw required users to navigate intricate technical steps, including runtime environment setup, command-line operations, API key configuration, and port adjustments. This complexity led to a niche market for paid installation services, with some providers charging thousands of dollars.

AutoClaw Simplifies Setup and Operation

AutoClaw, also known by its Chinese nickname "Aolong," packages OpenClaw into a user-friendly desktop application. The installation process is reduced to downloading, double-clicking, and logging in, making it accessible to users without technical expertise. This simplified approach retains all core functionalities of OpenClaw, addressing the installation barrier that previously affected a large percentage of potential users.

The original OpenClaw installation involved multiple steps, such as installing specific Node.js versions, configuring security, and manually entering API keys. AutoClaw automates these processes, allowing the agent to be ready for use immediately after opening the application.

The agent can perform various tasks, including organizing research papers, setting application reminders, operating computer functions like adding calendar events on macOS, creating timed automation tasks, and generating Word and Excel documents directly.

Seamless Feishu Integration

A key feature of AutoClaw is its one-click integration with Feishu. The original process for connecting OpenClaw to Feishu involved a series of manual configurations within the Feishu Open Platform, including creating enterprise applications, enabling bots, configuring event subscriptions, and handling API keys and permissions. AutoClaw automates this entire sequence.

Users can initiate an "automatic configuration" within AutoClaw, which then manages the application creation, permission enablement, and connection establishment on the Feishu Open Platform. This process takes approximately two and a half minutes, after which the agent appears in the Feishu chat list. The integration allows users to interact with the agent from any device capable of running Feishu, extending its accessibility beyond the desktop.

Introducing Pony-Alpha-2 and Model Flexibility

AutoClaw incorporates Pony-Alpha-2, a new agent model developed by Zhipu AI specifically for agent scenarios. This model is designed for continuous planning, multi-step execution, and repeated tool calls, addressing limitations found in general large language models for such tasks. Pony-Alpha-2 is currently in internal testing, with AutoClaw serving as its exclusive access point.

The application also offers model flexibility, allowing users to hot-swap between different large language models. It comes pre-installed with four Zhipu models: GLM-4.7, GLM-4.7-FlashX, GLM-4.7-Flash, and GLM-5. The GLM-4.7-Flash and GLM-4.7-FlashX models are provided free of charge, offering a cost-effective entry point for users. AutoClaw also supports connecting external models from providers such as DeepSeek, MiniMax, and Kimi via API keys, with plans to expand compatibility further.

Enhanced Skill System and Browser Automation

AutoClaw fully supports OpenClaw's skill system, offering over 50 pre-built skills for tasks ranging from content generation for social media platforms to email drafting, Feishu document management, SEO analysis, code generation, financial research, and academic research. These skills can be installed with minimal effort, requiring no coding or environment configuration.

A notable improvement is the integration of AutoGLM-Browser-Agent, Zhipu AI's proprietary browser automation engine. This enhancement significantly improves the agent's ability to handle complex, multi-step, and cross-page browser tasks, which were previously a challenge for the original OpenClaw.

In addition to the software release, Zhipu AI launched the "Little Lobster Knocking on Doors Plan" on March 11. This initiative involves volunteers providing free, in-person installation and usage guidance for AutoClaw to individuals in communities, aiming to make the technology accessible to a broader audience regardless of age or technical background.
