Enterprise Focus Drives Revenue Growth

Anthropic's financial disclosures indicate that its coding agent, Claude Code, generates over $2.5 billion in annualized revenue, having doubled since the beginning of the year. Weekly active users for Claude Code have also doubled. The number of customers spending over $100,000 annually has increased sevenfold in the past year, with eight of the top ten Fortune companies now utilizing Claude.

The company attributes its growth to a strategic focus on enterprise users, who are characterized by strong payment capabilities, high retention rates, and a willingness to integrate AI tools deeply. This "enterprise-first" approach is seen as a key differentiator in the AI market, with investment trends favoring companies capable of enterprise implementation.

Data from financial services provider Ramp suggests that Anthropic is expanding its user base rather than solely drawing from competitors. According to Ramp, 20% of enterprises using its services now also subscribe to Anthropic, up from 4% last year. Among all OpenAI paying users, 79% also pay for Claude. Ramp attributes this adoption to Anthropic's Claude Code product.

Claude Code as a Key Growth Engine

Recent data indicates that 4% of global GitHub public code commits originate from Claude Code, doubling from the previous month. Enterprise subscriptions for Claude Code have quadrupled since early 2026, with enterprise customers now contributing over half of its revenue. Boris Cherny, identified as the creator of Claude Code, noted that weekly active users have doubled since January of this year, with many non-programmers using the tool to develop applications and automate processes.

Beyond programming, Claude is expanding into areas such as financial analysis, data modeling, sales, cybersecurity, and scientific discovery. In January 2026, Anthropic released over 30 new products and features. Among these is "Cowork," which extends Claude Code's engineering capabilities to broader knowledge work tasks. Cowork includes 11 open-source plugins, allowing for the customization of Claude into specialized role assistants for various fields. Additionally, Claude for Enterprise has expanded into medical and life sciences, supporting deployment in HIPAA-compliant organizations.

Infrastructure Expansion and Industry Commentary

Anthropic plans to use the new funding to expand Claude's global infrastructure deployment. Claude is currently deployable across Amazon AWS (Bedrock), Google Cloud (Vertex AI), and Microsoft Azure (Foundry). Its underlying training and operation support hardware architectures such as AWS Trainium, Google TPU, and NVIDIA GPU, designed to optimize performance and system elasticity for enterprise customers.
