An individual’s attempt to summarize their year by feeding AI chat logs to another AI led to an unexpected emotional reflection. The project aimed to leverage diverse AI interactions—including with ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, Doubao, and GLM—to gain an objective self-assessment.

The initial concept involved exporting all chat logs from the year and submitting them to an AI for analysis, a method the individual believed would be more accurate than personal memory or psychological tests. This idea prompted action in the early hours of the morning.

Exporting Chat Logs Proves Challenging

The first step, exporting chat logs, presented immediate difficulties. ChatGPT's export function, while available, did not allow for time-range selection, resulting in a 200MB file containing three years of data, approximately 9.59 million words. This volume was unmanageable for AI processing, and the lack of timestamps within the export further complicated efforts to isolate specific year data.

Other AI platforms posed even greater challenges, as most, with the exception of DeepSeek, lacked any chat log export functionality. The individual noted that while DeepSeek offered timestamped exports, its usage was limited to the beginning of the year. Primary AI tools for office tasks, coding, and daily queries—ChatGPT, Gemini, and Doubao—did not offer viable export options.

Manual Data Collection and Filtering

To overcome the export limitations, the individual discovered Chat Memo, a free Chrome plugin designed to back up chat logs locally. This local storage was crucial due to the sensitive nature of the chat content. The plugin supports various AI tools, including those used by the individual.

The process involved manually clicking through each conversation in the AI interface to sync it with Chat Memo. This method allowed for selective data collection, enabling the user to filter out irrelevant or "junk" information that would otherwise skew the analysis. Despite the tedious nature of manual selection, the individual opted for it to ensure data quality.

After approximately 30 minutes of manual review, 857 relevant conversations were saved. These were then merged and exported as a single TXT file, completing the first phase of data collection.

AI Analysis and Emotional Response

For the analysis phase, the individual used GPT-5.2 Thinking, citing its strong instruction-following capabilities for long-text processing. The TXT file containing the year's chat logs was submitted with a prompt asking the AI to analyze "what kind of person I truly am" in 5,000 words.

After a few minutes, GPT-5.2 Thinking delivered its analysis. Following a slight redaction of sensitive information and formatting for readability, the individual reviewed the summary. This experience, occurring around 4 AM, reportedly led to an emotional reaction, described as shedding tears. The individual reflected on personal resilience, the pressures of work, and the constant need to maintain a composed demeanor despite internal struggles.

The reflection touched upon a personal dream spanning two decades and the desire to leave a mark in the current era. The individual concluded with a quote emphasizing faith in the face of adversity, looking ahead to 2026 with anticipation for faster models and a more dynamic world.
